A STRONG CHINA - IMPLICATIONS AND CHALLENGES

The Special Forum - "A Strong China - Implications and Challenges" was conceptualized on the basis of the growing economic might of China in the global economy and the ASEAN-China Free Trade Agreement (ACFTA) which came into effect on 1st January 2010; whereby reducing trariffs to almost at 0% for 90% of the goods covered under the FTA.
On the China dimension, the 3 planelists delivered their views from 3 different perspectives:
- Impact of ASEAN-China FTA
- Developments in EAST ASIA - economic integration; challenges to Malaysia
- China's Military Power and Regional Stability
YABhg Tun Dr Mahathir in a special address delivered his views and perspectives on
the growing economic might of China; and thereafter, there was a dialogue session with
YABhg Tun, the panelists and the participants.
